Une maison à Morges
REMO is a project located in Morges. It was born when our clients discovered an abandoned house in a residential neighborhood developed in the 1950s and asked us to transform it into a space where their young family could live, work, and grow.
Given the characteristics of the neighborhood, which consisted of similar houses with a balanced ratio of green space to built environment, we committed to maintaining this equilibrium. We designed a project that preserves the house's original footprint while seeking additional volume on the upper floors.
To achieve this, we removed the upper half of the house and braced the remaining walls with a concrete structure. This serves as both a reinforcement for the original house and a solid base for a new, lightweight upper floor made of wood. The structural interplay plays a fundamental role in the project: the concrete beams and spruce joists interact to define the character of the interiors. They allow for a flexible manipulation of the building's form, particularly the first-floor cantilevered extension that connects the interior spaces to the garden. Additionally, a sculpted second floor is designed to host a hanging garden, aiming to soften the building’s presence within its context.

REMO est un projet situé à Morges. Il a vu le jour lorsque nos clients ont découvert une maison abandonnée dans un quartier résidentiel des années 1950 et nous ont demandé de la transformer en un espace où leur jeune famille pourrait vivre, travailler et s'épanouir.
Compte tenu des caractéristiques du quartier, composé de maisons similaires offrant un bon équilibre entre espaces verts et bâtis, nous nous sommes engagés à maintenir cette harmonie. Nous avons conçu un projet qui conserve l’empreinte originale de la maison tout en créant du volume supplémentaire dans les étages supérieurs.
Pour y parvenir, nous avons déposé la moitié supérieure de la construction et ceint les murs restants d'une structure en béton. Celle-ci sert de renforcement à l’ancienne maison et de base solide pour un nouvel étage léger en bois. Ce jeu structurel joue un rôle fondamental dans le projet : les poutres en béton et les solives en épicéa interagissent pour définir le caractère des intérieurs. Elles permettent une manipulation flexible de la forme du bâtiment, notamment avec l’extension en porte-à-faux au premier étage qui relie les espaces de vie au jardin. Enfin, un deuxième étage sculpté accueille un jardin suspendu destiné à adoucir la présence du bâtiment dans son contexte.
